Personnel

The future Child Location Services Act recommends that people with access to location data should have been checked with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) to the level matching those cleared to work with children. While the Bill is still going through parliament and is not yet law, we can confirm that:

• anyone working for Blue Tree Services Ltd who has access to the backup location data has had their history checked with the CRB and has been cleared to the correct level,
• anyone working for Blue Tree Services Ltd has had their identity confirmed with the appropriate certification, and
• we verify that the person who is asking for a tracking service is the parent or guardian of the child being tracked.

System security

While any signal transmitted over the cell network is vulnerable to being intercepted, the signal is useless to others if it is encrypted.

We encrypt to the highest standards to ensure that any signal sent from the child unit is safe.

Because we are dealing with highly sensitive information Blue Tree Services Ltd uses several layers of security. All access to data on our central server is logged and it is cross checked each day.

The rights of the person being tracked

Monitoring a child or other person may infringe their rights. Blue Tree Services Ltd is very concerned to ensure that its tracking systems are not misused. Our procedures include:

Verification

We make every reasonable effort to ensure that the person buying the system is who they say they are. Once this is done we use a password and other security questions to secure each conversation.

Consent

When a person able to give their consent is being monitored we ask the purchaser to sign a consent form. Where an adult is monitoring a child or protected person we ask them to inform us and say who they are monitoring and their relationship to that person.

Control of the Service

Blue Tree Services retains control of the cell link between the parent and child units. In this way we are able to break the link where the system is being misused.
